This DPS hero in Overwatch 2 is causing havoc on consoles—some players suspect a motive to boost skin sales.

Overwatch 2 Patch: Support Players Annoyed by Sombra’s Overwhelming Presence

Ever since the latest patch for Overwatch 2 went live, support players have expressed frustration over the dominance of one particular DPS hero. The midseason update for season nine introduced several changes to the hero roster, but it seems that Sombra is causing havoc once again.

Sombra received several adjustments in the patch, including an increase in the impact damage of her Virus projectile, a reduction in the ultimate cost of her EMP, and a small change to her Translocator ability, allowing it to destroy breakable objects while in flight. Blizzard explained that these changes were made to enhance her gameplay and make her more enticing to use as a follow-up.

However, many players have voiced their frustration with Sombra’s overwhelming presence. A Reddit user described their experience as “utter hell” on console, where Sombra has become a common sight in matches, making it difficult for support players to cope. On consoles, players have limited mobility compared to PC players, making it more challenging to counter Sombra’s hacks and SMG attacks effectively.

Some speculate that the recent Sombra buff was intentional to coincide with the release of her new $25 Cowboy Bebop skin. They believe that Blizzard may prioritize buffs and updates for heroes with expensive skins, creating a potential pay-to-win situation.

Even as a PC player, I have also noticed an increase in Sombra’s presence in my games. Whether it’s due to the new skin, the buff, or both, the thought of facing her with a controller sends shivers down my spine as a tank player.

Regardless of the reason, it is crucial for support players and all Overwatch 2 gamers to be prepared to switch heroes or coordinate their efforts to counter Sombra as a team if she becomes problematic.
