Tap to hit the Rift: This player’s LoL-themed MTG deck screams Secret Lair crossover

Today, a League of Legends and Magic: The Gathering fan transformed his Elas-il-Kor Orzhov Aristocrats Commander deck into an incredible Star Guardian composition.

Crossing popular IPs is enjoyable in MTG, which is why Wizards of the Coast capitalizes on it with Universes Beyond Secret Lair. If a crossover was ever to take place with League champions as the artwork, one fan showcased how well the Star Guardian skins look on MTG cards. After fine-tuning their Elas-il-Kor Orzhov Commander deck, Star Guardian Zoe was picked as the best champion to take over Elas-il-Kor’s leadership as commander.

Wizards and Riot have already collaborated on Universes Beyond Secret Lair drops, including an Arcane drop featuring artistic excerpts from the successful Netflix show on prominent MTG cards. The drop featured reprints of Path to Exile, Duress, and Rystic Study. Envisioning a Secret Lair drop with Star Guardian champion skins is not impossible, and you can even do it yourself, as one Reddit user did today.

“Welp, that is it, you have inspired me to design a WUBRG deck featuring league characters,” stated another Magic player shortly thereafter. “Probably Legends-matter would be fair in order to include as many characters as feasible.”

According to chichirobov7, the program in question was Magic Set Editor. There is even a Dropbox folder filled with MTG typefaces. Players have been creating homemade Magic cards for as long as the TCG has existed; the game’s origins can be traced back to kitchen tables and floor space. However, some cards are not permitted to play because they are intended to be fun and informal.

At the time of writing, no decklist was provided for the Star Guardian Elas-il-Kor Orzhov Aristocrats Commander deck, but the notion may motivate WotC and Riot to try another Secret Lair partnership using skins in the near future.
