Riot employs a well-known strategy to weaken AD carry Senna in LoL Patch 14.6

League of Legends Patch 14.6: Senna Gets Nerfed Again

League of Legends Patch 14.6 is coming soon, and Senna is finally getting a nerf. Since the preseason update, Senna has been shining on Summoner’s Rift, but now Riot Games is using its usual trick to bring her power level down.

Senna’s Soul Drop Rate Nerf

As mentioned on the Senna mains subreddit on March 13, Patch 14.6 will once again nerf the percentage of souls that drop from the minions she kills. This change aims to reduce Senna’s late-game dominance. This isn’t the first time Riot has made adjustments to this aspect of the champ. They have consistently nerfed the soul drop rate from minions whenever AD carry Senna becomes meta. This has proven to be an effective strategy for reducing her power without compromising her performance as a support.

Senna’s History of Soul Drop Nerfs

Riot’s approach to balancing Senna has been to reduce her soul drop rate whenever she becomes too strong as an ADC. This strategy has been employed in previous patches, including 10.3, 10.8, 10.19, 11.17, 12.3, and 12.11. If you check her stat page on League of Graphs, you’ll see how strong she was as a bot lane pick before these changes were implemented.

Support Senna Still Strong

Riot primarily sees Senna as a support champion rather than an ADC. Support Senna is currently in a strong position, although not overpowered. She can deal significant damage while still being useful with her root and shroud abilities. It was challenging for Riot to nerf ADC Senna without affecting her power as a support. Adjusting the soul stacking mechanic when killing minions seemed like the best solution.

Alternative Strategy: Fasting Senna

With the release of League’s next update, it’s likely that ADC Senna will no longer be viable. However, players can opt for the fasting strategy, where Senna is teamed up with a tanky champion like Tahm Kench or Cho’Gath. This allows Senna to stack her passive while the tank farms.

League Patch 14.6 goes live on March 20.
