League of Legends North America Witnessed First Jungler Pentakill
In an exciting series between Team Liquid and Golden Guardians on Aug. 13, the League of Legends North-American scene saw its first ever pentakill by a jungler.
During the second game of the series, TL jungler Pyosik secured the pentakill while playing Viego. He strategically flanked the Golden Guardians players who were preparing for a teamfight in the midlane. With the help of midlaner APA’s Neeko Ultimate, Pyosik was able to eliminate all five opponents, earning himself the Player of the Series title.

This historic achievement by Pyosik not only marks the first jungle pentakill in LCS history, but also his second pentakill in his career, with the first one coming from his time in the LCK.
In the world of League of Legends, pentakills are often rare for junglers, as they are more commonly performed by toplaners, midlaners, and botlaners. Pyosik’s pentakill in the LCS this season makes him the first jungler in any Major region’s main circuit to accomplish this feat. In the South-Korean League, junglers are also rarely able to secure pentakills, with only two, including Pyosik, having achieved one.
Fighting Game Turned Table for Team Liquid
The pentakill by Pyosik proved to be a game-changer for Team Liquid against Golden Guardians. The team capitalized on their advantage, securing a 2-0 lead in the series by destroying the opponent’s Nexus.
However, Golden Guardians fought back valiantly, winning the next two games to tie the score. Nonetheless, Team Liquid emerged victorious in the final game, ultimately winning the series and advancing to the fourth Round of the LCS Championship playoffs.
This victory also secured Team Liquid a top-three spot in the rankings, granting them a spot in the highly anticipated 2023 World Championship. After missing the tournament last year, the team has their sights set on the LCS crown.
Team Liquid will face NRG in their upcoming series on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 3pm CT.
