Two prominent champions in the competitive scene of League of Legends, Jayce and Galio, have received nerfs on the League Public Beta Environment (PBE). Last week’s Mid-Season Invitational showcased Jayce with a 67 percent win rate and Galio being picked 40 times. Their dominance in professional play prompted Riot to address their power level.
Although not the strongest champions in solo queue, Jayce and Galio have become staples in competitive play, posing a threat to any team composition. Jayce excels as a top lane carry, while Galio’s utility and pick potential make him an overtuned support.
To address their impact on the game, Jayce’s Shock Blast (Cannon Q) has been adjusted. While the damage numbers have been increased, the overall base attack damage has been reduced. These changes aim to slightly balance Jayce without completely diminishing his value as a top lane pick.
Shock Blast (Cannon Q)
- Damage increased from 65/110/155/200/245 (+120 percent bAD) to 70/115/160/205/250 (+100 percent bAD)
In comparison, the nerfs to Galio are more substantial. Both the damage on his Shield of Durand (W) and Justice Punch (E) have been reduced. This adjustment will make him a less impactful champion in the early game, forcing Galio players to focus on a more passive laning phase.
Shield of Durand (W)
- Minimum damage lowered from 20/30/40/50/60 (+20 percent AP) to 10/20/30/40/50 (+30 percent AP)
- Maximum damage lowered from 60/90/120/150/180 (+60 percent AP) to 30/60/90/120/150 (+90 percent AP)
Justice Punch (E)
- Damage lowered from 100/135/170/205/240 to 80/120/160/200/240
Overall, these nerfs should have a positive impact on the metagame. While Jayce and Galio will still be contested picks in competitive play, they will no longer be as overwhelming as before.
