Riot Games’ League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational Broadcast Team Faces Setback
The League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational broadcast team is experiencing a shake-up this year as one of its core members, Isaac “Azael” Cummings-Bentley, will not be attending the three-week-long tournament in China. Azael, a longtime caster for League, revealed on social media that he will be staying in Canada to support his father, who is facing health challenges.
“Hours before flying out to China I got the devastating news that my father doesn’t have much time left,” shared Azael in a heartfelt post on Twitter. “I’ve made the decision to cancel the trip and spend this time in Canada with my family.”
Support and Understanding from the Community
Azael’s decision to prioritize his family during this difficult time has garnered an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues alike. His absence at MSI will undoubtedly be felt, but his well-being and family come first.
Notably, Azael is not the only member of the broadcast team opting out of the tournament. Clayton “CaptainFlowers” Raines, another prominent North American League shoutcaster, announced that he too will be missing MSI to focus on his personal health and sleep schedule.
Riot Games’ Response and Broadcast Team Plans
Riot Games has since announced the full English broadcast team for MSI, with representatives from all four major League regions. While Azael was initially slated to be a color commentator for the event, it remains unclear if his spot will be filled by another shoutcaster or left vacant as a tribute to his absence.
The 2024 League Mid-Season Invitational kicks off on Wednesday, May 1, starting with the tournament’s play-in stage. Despite the challenges faced by the broadcast team, excitement for the competition remains high as teams from around the world prepare to clash on the international stage.
