Finalist of the LoL World Championship takes extended break from competition until 2025

TheShy Announces Extension of Hiatus Until 2025

The former League of Legends World Championship winner, TheShy, has decided to extend his competitive hiatus until the year 2025. His absence from the LPL Spring Split left fans disappointed, hoping for his return in the Summer Split and a chance to compete at Worlds once again. However, it seems they will have to wait until next year to see him back in action.

TheShy’s Plans for the Future

In an interview shared today on X, TheShy reiterated his decision to continue his break this summer. He aims to return to the competitive scene in better form for the following year, focusing on personal growth and improvement.

TheShy, who was previously associated with Weibo Gaming, initially announced his decision to step away from the pro scene in November 2023. This decision followed Weibo Gaming’s second-place finish at the 2023 LoL World Championship, raising questions about the team’s performance in the upcoming 2024 season. TheShy emphasized the importance of rest and self-care, highlighting the challenges of a demanding pro-player career on both physical and mental well-being.

TheShy’s journey in the League competitive scene has been a mix of triumphs and challenges. From his rapid rise with Invictus Gaming in 2017 to securing the World Championship title in 2018, he has faced both success and setbacks. Despite a few tough years, TheShy made a comeback to the Worlds Grand Finals stage last year, showcasing his skills and determination once again, even though he fell short in the final match against T1.

While fans may miss seeing TheShy in action, his promise to return to professional play in 2025 brings hope and excitement for what’s to come in a groundbreaking year for the League community. In the meantime, TheShy plans to engage with his fans through streaming, assuring them that he will be back stronger and better prepared for his eventual comeback.
