VALORANT Console Introduces Focus: A New Feature Enhancing Hipfire Abilities

VALORANT Coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

Riot Games has recently announced that VALORANT will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Along with this exciting announcement, the game developer has developed Focus, a new shooting mode designed specifically for consoles. This option is intended to improve the hipfire experience for players using controllers.

Differences Between Shooting Modes: PC and Console

On PC, VALORANT’s primary firing mode is hipfire, with ADS (aim down sights) serving as a supplementary support mode for precision aiming. Riot said in a press release that duplicating this experience on consoles proved difficult due to differences in controls and gameplay dynamics.

New Focus Mode for Console Players

Riot Games experimented with various modifications and gamepad sensitivity to overcome hipfire’s restrictions on consoles. They noticed that users’ options for gameplay expressiveness were limited as compared to the PC experience.

In response to this, Riot created Focus, a shooting mode designed particularly for VALORANT on console. Focus mode works similarly to hipfire, but with lower sensitivity. This modification allows players to retain speed while aiming and attain precision as needed.

Focus mode aims to bridge the gap between hipfire and ADS on consoles, providing players with a more intuitive and responsive shooting experience.  As the release of VALORANT on consoles approaches, players can expect Riot Games to reveal further details and updates on features such as Focus and Vanguard.
