VALORANT: Riot confirms no crossplay between PC and console versions

Riot Games recently confirmed that VALORANT, the developer’s popular FPS, would not support cross-play between PC and console gamers when it launches on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

In an interview, production director Arnar Gylfason characterized the move as an effort to ensure that players compete on a “even playing field” and that Riot Games provides a game experience that “feels right” for all players. By keeping separate player bases for each platform, VALORANT hopes to create an inclusive gaming experience suited to the strengths and preferences of PC and console players.

The lack of cross-play between PC and console does not imply that users will miss out on a connected gaming experience. Players on various platforms will not be able to play together, but they will benefit from a shared inventory and progression. This implies that if you have accounts on both PC and console, you will be able to effortlessly access your inventory and progress between platforms. Whether you want to play on PC or console, you can still take advantage of all the live service features, such as new agents, maps, and patch balancing, which will be available simultaneously on PC, Xbox, and PS5.

Global Availability and Future Updates

The highly anticipated VALORANT will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 platforms, with a limited beta testing phase starting June 14. Initially, this beta will be available to players in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Japan, with additional territories expected to follow shortly. This implies that players from diverse locations will be able to join the VALORANT community and enjoy the game’s unique features and competitive gameplay. Furthermore, PC and console gamers can expect patches and new content to arrive at the same time, ensuring that everyone stays up to date on the latest developments.

While VALORANT does not support cross-play between PC and console gamers, it does attempt to deliver a fair and engaging gameplay experience on each platform. With unique ranks and MMR for players on different platforms, VALORANT ensures that everyone can play at their own ability level. With the game’s imminent release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, players from all around the world will be able to join the VALORANT community and participate in exciting competitive bouts.
