DRX dominates ZETA DIVISION in opening match of 2022 VCT Masters Reykjavík

DRX Dominates ZETA DIVISION in VALORANT Masters Reykjavík

DRX showcased their dominance in the opening match of VCT Masters Reykjavík today, defeating ZETA DIVISION in two one-sided maps and securing a place in the winner’s finals of their group stage bracket.

Icebox: DRX’s Early Lead

DRX started the match on Icebox and quickly took control by connecting rounds early. They made a strategic decision to switch BuZz back to Jett, which proved to be effective. With Jett’s agility, they secured fast spike plants and MaKo, playing as Viper, made crucial clutch plays in the post-plants. DRX dominated the first half, leading 10-2 at halftime.

ZETA DIVISION’s Defeat on Icebox

ZETA DIVISION struggled on their own pick of Icebox. DRX’s Rb pulled off a sneaky defuse in the second-half pistol round, which became a turning point in the match. ZETA DIVISION lost both bonus rounds and ended up losing 13-2.

Haven: DRX’s Relentless Attack

Switching to Haven, DRX continued their aggressive playstyle on the attacking side. They strategically used Omen, Breach, and Sova to stack utility and support Jett, played by Rb, in making impactful plays. BuZz, on Killjoy, effectively locked down post-plants. DRX secured a commanding lead of 11-1 at halftime.

ZETA DIVISION Fight Back

ZETA DIVISION managed to win a few rounds after falling behind 12-1, but their comeback was short-lived. DRX shut down a C site push to close out the series.

DRX’s Strong Performance

DRX made a strong comeback to the international stage after rebranding from Vision Strikers. They have maintained their dominance and have only suffered one series loss this year. The core of the roster holds the record for the longest winning streak in VALORANT’s history, and they showcased their prowess in today’s match.

Next Match and Playoffs

DRX will now face the winner of tomorrow’s Group A match between Fnatic and Ninjas in Pyjamas. They have a chance to secure a top group seed and a spot in the playoffs.
