Potential Players Runi, Shonk, and Danimal in Talks to Join Soniqs’ VALORANT Team

Soniqs in Talks to Add New Players and Head Coach

Soniqs is currently in discussions to bolster its roster by adding Dylan “runi” Cade and William “shonk” Kittrell as the final two players, along with Daniel “Danimal” Booth as the head coach, according to multiple sources.

Runi and shonk are joining Soniqs from ZeroMarksMen Black, a team that has been making significant strides in the past six months. They have established themselves as one of the top teams in the tier two scene.

During their time with the team, Runi and shonk have achieved several podium finishes in tournaments like Nerd Street Gamers and Knights. However, they couldn’t replicate this success in North America’s VALORANT Champions Tour, as they were defeated by Luminosity and Gen.G in the first and second open qualifiers.

Soniqs has faced challenges since the Australian core relocated to North America. In the first open qualifier on January 27, losses to Rise and Knights ended their chances of qualifying.

The second open qualifier on February 3 had a different outcome. Soniqs found themselves just one series away from advancing to the group stage. However, they faced a formidable challenge against Luminosity in a win-or-go-home matchup. Unfortunately, a 13-11 loss on map three marked the end of their VCT Stage One run.

Shortly after, longtime member Bob Tran announced that she was seeking a new team as a restricted free agent. Additionally, Jason “JSUNG” Sung also expressed his intention to explore new opportunities, leaving Soniqs in search of two new members.

Danimal will be replacing the outgoing Reid “x0tek” Johnson, who had been coaching the team since October 2021. Throughout 2021, Danimal has worked with teams such as ex-Serenity Black, Good Fellas, and Kowareta.

The new trio of Soniqs will be aiming to rejuvenate the team as they embark on their Stage Two VCT journey in early May.
