Twitch Streamer Gets Swatted on Live Stream
Jeff “TrixxyTrix” Zito recently became a victim of swatting while streaming on Twitch, but what made it different was that one of the SWAT officers was familiar with both Twitch and swatting.
Tension Captured on Camera
Zito’s entire audience witnessed the ordeal as it unfolded on his live stream. Despite receiving threats of swatting in the chat, Zito continued playing Minecraft and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive until he heard banging on his windows.
SWAT Team Clears the Building
Off-screen, the SWAT team escorted Zito and his family out of the house to ensure the safety of everyone inside. Zito later shared the details in a YouTube video, where he discussed the incident with a few police officers.
“They just mess with him to get him off the game?” one of the officers asked. “It happens to Twitch streamers all the time,” replied the other officer.
Curious about the viewers’ reactions, one of the officers looked straight into the camera and asked, “What’s chat saying right now?”
Twitch Streamer Recognition
While explaining Twitch to one of the officers, Zito gave a shoutout to another Twitch streamer. The officer viewing the stream recognized the streamer and commented, “Oh, that’s Sodapoppin? The guy who earns crazy money for doing nothing?”
“Not doing nothing. He’s living the dream,” added the other officer. The officers remained on Zito’s stream for a few more minutes before he explained what had transpired.
A Serious Incident
It turned out that one of Zito’s viewers had called 911 to falsely report him streaming instructions on how to make a bomb, with his parents supposedly locked up in the basement. This resulted in five armed police officers showing up to investigate the situation.
Zito expressed his gratitude towards the officers, stating, “I cannot thank these officers enough. They made me feel very safe in a crazy chaotic situation.”
