Mizkif’s Vision for Streaming in 10 Years: Twitch’s Demise, Restrictions on Kick, and TikTok vs Instagram

Mizkif forecasts a reduction in Twitch’s dominance in the streaming market over the next ten years, citing the rise of various competitor services.

Exploring Rival Platforms

In a recent episode of the Just Chatting podcast, Mizkif and fellow Twitch streamer Squeex delved into the topic of Twitch and its competitors such as Kick and TikTok. Although Kick has signed up popular broadcasters such as Adin Ross and xQc since its inception in October 2022, Mizkif does not believe it will challenge Twitch’s supremacy. However, the presence of competing platforms such as TikTok and Instagram Live leads him to anticipate that Twitch’s significance would diminish after a decade.

According to Mizkif, the rise of other social media platforms will affect Twitch’s audience. He expects that Twitter and TikTok streams will gain tremendous popularity, leading Twitch viewership to decrease. Nonetheless, Mizkif and Squeex agree that Twitch is still superior than other broadcasting services, despite the contentious decisions made by Emmett Shear, its former CEO.

Squeex says that only financially motivated streamers choose to launch their careers on Kick. Furthermore, because Twitch allows producers to stream on competing platforms, streamers have grown to value the strength of their Twitch networks.

The Youtube Challenge

YouTube posed a challenge to Twitch’s dominance, but after securing notable signings like Ludwig, Valkyrae, and TimTheTatman, it ceased offering multi-million dollar deals to streamers. While other platforms struggle to gain Twitch’s market share, Kick experienced significant growth in terms of peak viewers, hours viewed, and channel count in May.

Twitch’s exit from the Korean market due to chronic financial losses and subsequent pricing rises in over 30 countries may open up opportunities for rival platforms to recruit viewers.
