Destiny 2: The Final Shape takes Twitch by storm
Destiny 2 is now witnessing a significant increase in popularity. With the release of The Final Shape, the climax to the Light and Darkness tale, players all over the world are immersed in the exhilarating gameplay. However, Destiny 2 has attracted more than just its players; Twitch viewership has surged.
A Rising Star on Twitch
According to a recent StreamsCharts analysis, Destiny 2 quickly rose to become Twitch’s sixth most-watched category in the first two weeks of June. It is in good company, outperforming popular channels such as Just Chatting, GTA V, League of Legends, VALORANT, and Counter-Strike.
Destiny 2 has seen an astounding 17.7 million hours of Twitch watch time this month, representing a 291 percent growth over the prior months. This explosion in popularity has resulted in over 14,000 channels streaming the game, a staggering 664 percent increase from before.
According to the research, “The month of June has been the most-watched time for Destiny 2 on Twitch in well over a year and is on track to become the most-watched month for the game ever.”
Salvation’s Edge, a dramatic world-first raid race, is one of the reasons for this surge in viewing. Twitch drops’ popularity has also contributed significantly to the game’s increased viewership.
Noteworthy Twitch streamers have contributed to Destiny 2’s success as well. After 109 hours of streaming, Aztecross has an incredible 2.84 million hours watched. Meanwhile, Datto is trailing with 2.29 million hours watched across 98 hours in the first two weeks of June.
Even Twitch Rivals, the platform’s official tournament organizer, benefited from the Destiny 2 buzz. Their livestream during the raid race became the seventh most-watched channel in the entire category, despite only streaming for 15 hours.
Echoes, Destiny 2‘s newest seasonal episode, began recently and will last several months. This ensures that the game’s excitement lasts beyond the initial hype period.
