Beginner’s Guide: Hosting a Stream on Twitch

Boost Your Twitch Numbers and Support Fellow Streamers with Hosting

If you’ve had a long day of streaming or if you’re taking a break and have a large Twitch audience, why not help another streamer by boosting their numbers when you’re offline?

One way to do this is by utilizing the hosting feature on Twitch. Hosting allows you to feature another streamer on your channel, enabling your chat to interact with each other while watching.

To host a stream on Twitch, follow these simple steps:

  1. Make sure you are on your own channel in your chat.
  2. Type “/host” followed by the channel name of the stream you want to host on your channel.
  3. By doing this, the hosted stream will automatically start playing for your viewers.

You can use the “/host” command up to three times within a 30-minute period. If you want to stop hosting a Twitch channel, simply type “#unhost” in your chat.

In addition to manual hosting, you can also set up automatic hosting preferences. This way, when you’re not streaming, a series of streamers from your chosen list will be hosted automatically (auto-host). You can set this list to random or prioritize certain streamers over others.

It’s important to note that these hosting features work on mobile and other apps and devices, not just on PC.
