He acknowledged the sector’s economic contributions and the challenges it faces, and expressed confidence that the proposed modernizing measures would lead to a brighter future.
No Decision on Loot Boxes in the White Paper
When asked about the exclusion of loot boxes from the White Paper, the Minister explained that the government has been in talks with the home-based video gaming industry. The sector has been given 12 months to propose a way forward, and the government is open to considering all options.
bacta Chief Executive Highlights Importance of Machine Ratios and Contactless Payments
In his keynote presentation, bacta Chief Executive John White praised the bacta team for their work in organizing the Convention and supporting the industry. He emphasized the need for a simple approach to machine ratios, suggesting a shift from the current 80/20 rule to a 50/50 ratio. White also highlighted the significance of contactless payments, arguing that it should be possible for consumers to use debit cards for gambling machines.
