Why is Faker deciding to take a break from professional League of Legends?

League of Legends legend Faker takes a break due to injury

In the world of competitive League of Legends, players have always devoted countless hours to becoming the best in their field. However, even these talented individuals, including the renowned mid laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok from T1, need a break from time to time.

T1 recently announced that Faker, their 27-year-old veteran player, will be taking some time away from the starting lineup due to an injury.

Faker’s absence could affect T1’s standings

T1 will be playing without Faker for two weeks, which could have an impact on their position in the regular season standings, as most teams are only separated by a single game. With teams like Dplus KIA, Hanwha Life Esports, and Kwangdong Freecs just two games away from T1, any losses during this period could lead to a significant setback for the team.

Injury sidelines Faker

Faker’s departure from T1’s starting lineup is due to an arm injury that he sustained after a game against OK BRION on Saturday, June 17. Despite undergoing various tests and x-rays, there have been no signs of any abnormalities. Nevertheless, Faker will be focusing on his recovery and treatment, receiving the best physical therapy and rehabilitation programs available.

A new opportunity for T1’s Academy mid laner

During Faker’s absence, T1 will be replacing him with their Academy mid laner, Yoon “Poby” Sung-won. Poby, a 17-year-old rising star, got his opportunity through T1’s amateur program and will now have the chance to showcase his skills on a global stage, filling in the shoes of one of the most celebrated players in League of Legends history.
