TheShy suffers a setback in LoL Worlds grand finals defeat against T1

Weibo Gaming’s TheShy Falls Short in the 2023 League of Legends Worlds Finals

Weibo Gaming top laner TheShy had a strong performance throughout the 2023 edition of League of Legends Worlds. However, his performance in the finals against T1 was lackluster. Despite playing his signature champion Aatrox twice, TheShy only managed to secure one kill and five assists in the three-game series. In the final game, he struggled on Kennen and posted back-to-back games with a KDA below 1.0 for the first time since the LPL Summer regular season.

In contrast, T1’s Choi “Zeus” Woo-je showed exceptional skill and was awarded the MVP for the grand finals. Zeus had a total of four deaths and performed exceptionally well on Gwen and Aatrox, leading T1 to victory in games two and three.

Weibo Gaming Struggles in the Finals

While it is possible to contribute significantly to a win in League of Legends without having a positive score, TheShy’s three consecutive negative performances were not beneficial for Weibo Gaming. The rest of the team also had difficulty, with only one kill in the second game. Weibo’s ADC, Light, didn’t secure a single kill until the third match. By then, T1 had gained unstoppable momentum.

A One-Sided Grand Finals

Weibo Gaming may view their journey to the grand finals as a moral victory. However, it was disheartening for them to experience one of the most one-sided Worlds grand finals in history. The best-of-five series was finished in under 90 minutes of in-game time, and it appeared that Weibo Gaming did not bring their best performance.
