SK Telecom T1 and Griffin Set to Compete for New LCK Trophy
This Saturday, all eyes will be on SK Telecom T1 and Griffin as they battle it out in the LCK final. What they may not have expected, however, is the opportunity to vie for a brand-new LCK trophy.
Riot Games, the new production team behind LCK, recently unveiled an extraordinary championship hardware that is sure to impress. The trophy, made up of 140 intertwining strands of metal, creates a stunning cup-like structure that combines modern design with traditional aesthetics, resulting in a truly memorable piece.
According to Riot’s Korea division, the theme of the trophy is “Rise and Victory,” symbolizing the players’ journey to success through their hard work and determination. The design of the trophy was a collaboration between Riot and SWNA, a renowned Korean industrial design firm famous for designing medals for the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Games.
Each of the metal strands represents one of the game’s champions, while the recognizable LCK eagle-star logo is proudly displayed on the side. The top of the trophy features a star formation, further highlighting the LCK logo, and the handles are elegantly shaped like eagle’s wings. Additionally, the names of past champions are engraved at the base of the trophy, honoring their achievements.
This new trophy replaces the previous, more traditional-looking LCK trophy, which had a cup shape with sweeping handles. The updated design is a reflection of the league’s progress in 2019, with a new arena, Riot’s production, and the emergence of new competitive teams.
The coveted trophy will be presented to the winner of the final match on April 13 at 3am CT. Additionally, a permanent copy of each season’s winning trophy will be showcased at the iconic LoL Park in Seoul, Korea, commemorating the champions for years to come.
