Aatrox’s ultimate set to undergo significant changes in League of Legends Patch 9.9

Riot Games Proposes Changes for Aatrox in League of Legends Patch 9.9

Riot Games senior game designer Jeevun “Jag” Sidhu has recently presented potential changes for Aatrox in League of Legends Patch 9.9. These changes are currently proposals and have not yet been implemented in the game’s Public Beta Environment for further testing.

Reversing Earlier Changes to Aatrox’s Umbral Dash Ability

In previous patches (9.2 and 9.3), Aatrox underwent modifications to his Umbral Dash (E) ability. The recharge time for this ability increased in Patch 9.2, and it lost its second charge in Patch 9.3. The proposed changes aim to revert these alterations by restoring Umbral Dash to holding two charges and reducing its cooldown between casts.

Adjustments to Aatrox’s World Ender Ultimate Ability

Riot is also considering adjustments to Aatrox’s ultimate ability, World Ender, to address his ability to tower dive and decrease the number of his safe matchups. The balance team is contemplating the removal of the guaranteed revive during World Ender. Instead, Aatrox will only be able to revive if he achieves a kill during the ability’s duration.

If Riot goes ahead with these changes, securing kills during World Ender’s duration will extend it by five seconds, reset the cooldown on Aatrox’s Q ability (the Darkin Blade), and add one additional charge to Umbral Dash. The cast time will be reduced, and a one-second fear effect will also be added during the revive. Additionally, the slow and heal from the revive will be increased.

These proposed modifications will undergo further testing on the League of Legends Public Beta Environment before being applied to the live game.
