Week one winners and losers in the LCS

Last weekend, the LCS started its regular season with four teams securing flawless 2-0 records in League of Legends. Although the preseason games’ results don’t carry over to the regular season, they still have some influence on our power rankings. However, we also consider performance during the Lock In tournament. Let’s take a look at the rankings after the first week of the 2022 regular season.

Week one stumblers: Golden Guardians, Immortals

Golden Guardians vs. Immortals

The start of the LCS season hasn’t been kind to Golden Guardians and Immortals. Immortals, in particular, has struggled to find their footing with their new roster. They currently rank last in gold difference and gold spent difference percentage. Additionally, Immortals have struggled with neutral objective control. Golden Guardians have also faced decisive defeats and need to work on their teamfighting and laning stats to improve their chances of winning in future weeks.

Old friends: TSM, CLG

TSM vs. CLG

TSM and CLG, with their mix of experienced players and rookies, need time to adjust and find their groove. They have the potential to improve throughout the season and surprise everyone. Players like Luger, Keaiduo, and Shenyi have shown promise and may become key players in the LCS.

Unlikely breakouts: Dignitas, FlyQuest

Dignitas vs. FlyQuest

Dignitas and FlyQuest have emerged as unexpected contenders. Dignitas’ focus on their bot lane has been a driving force in their success, while FlyQuest’s unique strategy involving Smite support top has given them an edge. Both teams have proven themselves during the Lock In and continued to showcase promise in the regular season.

Serious threats: Cloud9, Evil Geniuses

Cloud9 vs. Evil Geniuses

Cloud9 and Evil Geniuses have demonstrated their clutch abilities both in the regular season and the Lock In tournament. With impressive performances from their young talents, these two teams have the potential to crack the upper echelon of the LCS rankings. As the season progresses, we expect them to further develop their skills and become serious contenders.

Taking point: Team Liquid, 100 Thieves

Team Liquid vs. 100 Thieves

Team Liquid and 100 Thieves are currently leading the LCS. Team Liquid, despite missing CoreJJ, has shown their talent and depth throughout the season. 100 Thieves, on the other hand, have proven to be a well-rounded team with strong performances from their players. These two teams will likely continue to battle for the top spot as the season progresses.
