Next LoL season to bring transformation to mid-game with upgraded red, blue buffs alongside jungle camp changes

Summoner’s Rift in the 2024 League of Legends season is set to undergo several changes, including updates to the jungle monsters found throughout the map.

The iconic red and blue buffs will receive evolutionary forms, altering their appearances and rewards midway through games next season. Riot Games made this announcement today.

At the 20-minute mark of a League game next year, the red and blue buffs will automatically respawn, transforming into Voidborn Brambleback (red) and Voidborn Sentinel (blue). These evolved versions of the buffs will have a new purple appearance and will be more challenging to defeat. However, the increased difficulty comes with better rewards, as all players alive on the team will receive the buffs when they are killed, similar to the Baron buff.

Another jungle camp, the Rift Scuttler, will also undergo a transformation. After 20 minutes, the crab will turn into a Voidborn Scuttler that reveals all enemy champions and wards in its area when killed, similar to the Scryer’s Bloom effect. This gives your team a greater vision advantage.

These changes are part of the largest update that Summoner’s Rift has seen in 10 seasons. The map has not undergone such a massive overhaul since the visual updates implemented in the 2014-15 preseason.

In recent years, Riot has been introducing effects to League that alter the evolution of Summoner’s Rift in each game. Similar to elemental dragons, the Void monsters that will appear on the Rift next year have the potential to change the gameplay experience, offering a fresh and unique match every time.

Players can test these changes on Nov. 20, and they will be implemented on the live servers when the ranked season begins in January 2024.
