LoL Support Champions to Receive New Versatile Item with 5 Transformations

Riot Games Introduces New “One-Size-Fits-All” Item for League of Legends Supports

In an effort to address the lack of variety and satisfaction for support players in League of Legends, Riot Games has announced the introduction of a new quest item with five customizable transformations. This change is set to take place in 2024, offering a breath of fresh air to the role.

Support players have long expressed their frustration with the limited options for quest items, as there has typically been one dominant choice based on the type of damage dealt. Furthermore, players have voiced concerns about the quest item becoming irrelevant in the later stages of the game, serving only as a ward holder with no additional value.

This new and currently unnamed item aims to address these concerns by continuing to provide gold to the player and maintaining the same unlock tiers as before. However, it now caters to all types of supports, allowing gold to be earned by damaging enemies and executing minions. Additionally, players will have the option to upgrade the quest item into five different choices, catering to various playstyles and support types.

For tanky engage supports, the item can be upgraded into Celestial Opposition, providing increased durability for both the support and their team. Enchanters can enhance their shielding and healing abilities with the Dream Maker upgrade, while Warden champions have access to Solstice Sleigh.

This new quest item has the potential to expand the support champion pool as it also offers upgrades for fighter-type champions with Bloodsong, and damage-focused mage champions with Zaz’Zak’s Realmspike. More details on these new items will be available when they hit the League Public Beta Environment (PBE) on Monday, November 20.

Overall, this system revamp aims to bring more significance to an overlooked aspect of the game while granting support players increased flexibility when drafting and building their kit.
