League of Legends’ Latest Top Contender Sustains Remarkably High Ban Rate in Recent Patches

Naafiri, the Hound of the Hundred Bites, To Receive Nerfs in League of Legends Patch 13.16

Naafiri, a popular champion in League of Legends solo queue, is set to receive nerfs in the upcoming Patch 13.16. Since her release in July, Naafiri has become a highly-contested pick on Summoner’s Rift, with a significant presence in ranked play. However, her dominance in the game has prompted Riot Games to take action.

Currently, Naafiri boasts a 52.6 percent win rate in the mid lane among Platinum players and above. She also has a staggering ban rate of 55.3 percent in the same ranked distribution, according to U.GG, a League stats aggregate. These impressive statistics have solidified Naafiri as one of the most-feared champions in the game.

Next patch, Naafiri will undergo several reductions in her base attack damage, armor, and attack speed, as confirmed by changes on the League PBE. These adjustments are in contrast to Riot’s initial plans in Patch 13.15, where Naafiri was deemed to be in a stable state and didn’t require any changes. However, her win rate has since increased to a problematic level in elite ranks.

These nerfs are intended to balance Naafiri’s strengths without completely diminishing her play rate and win rate. The developers aim to reach an acceptable limit for both players and themselves. Patch 13.16 is scheduled for release on Wednesday, Aug. 16.
