League fans left unsatisfied despite release of cinematic for Lunar Revel event during season 2023

The First League of Legends Cinematic of the Year Revealed

Riot Games has unveiled the first cinematic for the upcoming Lunar Revel event in League of Legends. Titled “Hop On,” the trailer showcases champions in their Lunar Revel outfits, flying through stunning vignettes on a magical bus. The animated video combines 2D and 3D imaging to create a visually appealing experience. Watch the cinematic here.

A Cinematic Disappoints Fans, But Riot Makes Amends

The release of the Lunar Revel 2023 cinematic followed a letdown from Riot Games, as fans were dissatisfied with the cinematic meant to kick off the new ranked season. In previous years, Riot would release a champion-centric cinematic that built anticipation for the start of the ranked ladder. However, the 2023 cinematic fell short of expectations. In response to the backlash, Riot issued an apology on Twitter, acknowledging their failure to communicate effectively with the community.

“Hop On” Cinematic Draw Mixed Reactions

Despite Riot’s attempt to rebound with the Lunar Revel cinematic, fans remain divided. Some feel that Riot prioritizes selling skins over producing high-quality content, with one fan commenting, “More effort put into an event cinematic than the season trailer…really goes to show what Riot is all about.” Read about the skins included in the Lunar Revel event here.

Exciting Skins and Champions Revealed

The “Hop On” cinematic features Panda Annie, Brave Phoenix Xayah, and upcoming skins like Mythmaker Garen, Lunar Empress Ashe, and Lunar Emperor Thresh. Patch 13.1 will introduce a total of 12 skins, including two prestigious ones, as part of the Lunar Revel event.
