Invictus Gaming and TheShy Call it Quits

Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok Leaves Invictus Gaming After Over Four Years

Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok, the South Korean top laner, has officially departed from Invictus Gaming (IG) after more than four years with the organization. Although his contract with IG expired in mid-November, TheShy mentioned in a previous statement that he was actively renegotiating with the team. However, IG announced today via Weibo that they have officially parted ways with TheShy, wishing him well on his future endeavors.

Changes in IG’s Roster

The departure of TheShy is part of IG’s wider roster changes. Previously, IG had also said goodbye to mid laner Song “Rookie” Eui-jin, bot laners Ding “Puff” Wang, Wu “Snow” Hao-Shun, and Su “Southwind” Zhi-Lin. Rookie and TheShy have been longtime partners, and their plans to join a new team together remain uncertain. With many top-tier League organizations already announcing their rosters for next year, their options may be limited.

TheShy’s History with Invictus Gaming

TheShy joined IG in May 2017 and played a crucial role in the team’s victory at Worlds 2018, where they defeated Fnatic. The following year, IG reached the semifinals of Worlds 2019 but lost to FunPlus Phoenix. Unfortunately, IG has struggled to achieve notable results in the LPL since then, failing to qualify for Worlds 2020 and 2021. As a result, IG is planning to feature a different lineup in 2022.

IG’s Current Roster and Future Lineup

Following TheShy’s departure, IG’s current roster consists of Gao “Ning” Zhen-Ning, Peng “XUN” Li-Xun, Zhang “Wink” Rui, Wang “Baolan” Liu-Yi, Li “Lucas” Tan-Pan-Ao, and Rookie. The organization has yet to announce their official lineup for 2022.
