FPX emerges victorious against Ultra Prime as Zeri continues to shape the LPL meta

FunPlus Phoenix Defeats Ultra Prime in Close Series

In an exciting three-game series, FunPlus Phoenix (FPX) emerged victorious over Ultra Prime (UP) today. The star of the match was FPX’s AD carry, Lwx, who showcased his skills on the meta-defining champion, Zeri.

An Even Battle Until the Final Fight

The first game started with FPX’s Gori gaining a two-kill advantage in a successful skirmish with UP’s jungler, Clid. However, UP’s bot lane turned the tide by securing two kills of their own. Both teams fought evenly throughout the game, with the gold difference and kill count remaining close. It wasn’t until the 29-minute mark that a team fight broke out, giving UP an advantage. But FPX’s Clid made a crucial play, eliminating UP’s jungler and turning the fight in favor of FPX. FPX then secured a victory in a hard-fought 30-minute battle.

Elk’s Jinx Scales Up to Win Pivotal Late-Game Fights

In the second game, UP’s bot lane secured a solo kill, giving them an early advantage. UP capitalized on this lead, securing early dragons and aiming for Baron. However, FPX regained control around Baron, causing UP to back off. FPX started to make a comeback, thanks to smart engagements and UP’s mispositioning. Despite FPX grabbing the Baron, UP’s Elk on Jinx dealt massive damage, allowing them to kill four FPX members and secure the Elder Dragon. UP used this momentum to secure an ace and win the game, tying the series.

Lwx Leads FPX to Victory with Carry Zeri Performance

The final game was a clash between FPX’s Lwx on Zeri and UP’s Elk on Jinx. FPX gained an early advantage with a level two gank, resulting in first blood for Lwx. FPX continued to apply pressure and build on their advantage. With Zeri’s mobility, FPX made quick rotations and dominated the map. In a crucial fight, Lwx’s Zeri killed four UP members, solidifying FPX’s lead. FPX secured Baron and ultimately won the game and the series. Lwx’s outstanding performance on Zeri showcased why FPX built their team around him for the 2022 season.

Zeri Defining the Meta in LPL

Zeri has rapidly become a popular pick in the LPL, ranking fifth in ADC champions played this split. With a 62% win rate and high pick/ban rate, Zeri has solidified her position in the meta. This game highlighted the significance of ADCs in the LPL and the impact of strong early-game junglers.

What This Win Means for FPX

With this victory, FPX has moved up to seventh place in the LPL Spring Split standings with a 4-3 record. They will face the undefeated EDward Gaming in their next match on Feb. 18. This win boosts their playoff position and sets them on an upward trajectory.

For UP, this loss adds to their challenges this season. With a 2-5 record, they are currently in 12th place. While they show promise in their matches, they struggle to close out series. UP will have an opportunity for redemption when they face WBG on Feb. 18.
