League of Legends Players in Master Tier Can Play Solo Queue Games with Friends Again
After a long wait, players ranked in the Master tier of League of Legends will finally have the chance to play solo queue games with their friends once again.
Riot Re-Implements Duo Queue Option for Master Tier Players
Riot Games has announced that in the second ranked split of League of Legends’ 2024 season, players in the Master tier will be able to engage in duo queue. This option was previously removed in 2021, but Riot is bringing it back to promote collaboration and engagement among high-ranked players and content creators.
Riot’s decision to reinstate duo queue for Master players aims to support those who play Ranked League as a social competitive experience. Streaming and content creators often showcase high-ranked players queuing up together, and Riot wants to bring back this element of community engagement.
To accommodate for the change, Riot is moving the cutoff for duo queue up by one tier. Players will no longer be able to duo queue at the Grandmaster and above ranks, ensuring a fair match and respect for role preferences.
However, despite the return of duo queue in most regions, certain regions such as Korea and China will not have the option available for Master ranked players. Riot’s focus on protecting ranked integrity has led to the exclusion of duo queue in these regions, creating a somewhat ironic situation.
Riot acknowledges that competitive integrity standards vary across different regions. The developers are open to listening to feedback from players in Korea and China regarding the potential re-implementation of duo queue in the Master tier.
Duo queue will make its return to the Master rank in League of Legends when the second ranked split begins on May 15.
