William “Meteos” Hartman and Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong Join Cloud9’s League of Legends Roster
Cloud9 announced in a recent YouTube video that William “Meteos” Hartman and Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong will join their League of Legends roster. This comes as founding team member An “Balls” Van Le and star jungler Lee “Rush” Yoon-jae depart from the main roster.
Balls Faces Criticism, but Proves Doubters Wrong
Balls has faced significant criticism in the past year, particularly leading up to the 2015 World Championships. Despite this, he showed an impressive performance in the group stages of the tournament. Unfortunately, it was not enough to secure a spot in the playoffs.
Meteos Returns After a Year on the Sidelines
Meteos is making a comeback to competitive League of Legends after almost a year away from the game. He left Cloud9 due to the team’s challenging start in the 2015 NA LCS Summer Split, which could be attributed to the temporary retirement of captain Hai Lam. To address this, Hai returned to the team, replacing Meteos. However, Meteos stayed with the organization to focus on its Challenger Series team.
Impact Joins from NRG Esports
Impact will be joining Cloud9 from NRG Esports, where he had a solid but unremarkable season as a Korean top laner. He achieved a 2.7 KDA and 78 percent kill participation.
In the upcoming split, Hai will not compete with Cloud9’s LCS roster. Instead, Michael “BunnyFuFu” Kurylo will join the team for the first time since the Spring Split. Despite being considered one of the most talented support players in North America, BunnyFuFu struggled as the team’s shot caller in his first split. This led to the team using Hai in that role.
The new Cloud9 roster, which also includes Nicolai “Jensen” Jensen and Zachary “Sneaky” Scuder, will aim to prove themselves capable of success without Hai.
