Honor of Kings, the popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game developed by Level Infinite (Tencent), is expected to make its way to Indian gamers in June 2024.

A news report suggests that the game will be launched in India under a different name, as it will be a rebranding of the existing MOBA game called Clash of Titans, which is already available in the country. The publisher of Clash of Titans in India, Actoz SG, is a Singapore-based company that is said to be controlled by Shengqu Games, a Chinese gaming company. It is worth noting that Actoz SG and its parent company Actoz Soft, are based in Korea.

Actoz SG and Tencent reportedly signed an agreement to bring Honor of Kings to India after another popular Tencent game, Arena of Valor, was banned by Indian regulators. This move is seen as an effort to address the Indian government’s concerns regarding data privacy and national security.

Currently, Honor of Kings is available in various regions, including the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Turkey, Eastern Europe, and South Asia (excluding India). The decision to publish the game through Actoz SG, a Singapore entity, is likely a strategic move to comply with Indian regulations and reassure authorities about data handling and security measures.

It is worth mentioning that India has imposed bans on several games developed or owned by Chinese companies since 2020. One of the prominent examples is Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), a popular battle royale game. However, the ban on BGMI has been lifted, and the game is now available in India under the publishing partnership with Korea’s Krafton.
