Flutter’s science-based targets approved formally

Flutter Entertainment Plc and the Science-based Targets Initiative

Flutter Entertainment Plc has announced that the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) has formally approved its short- and long-term science-based emission reduction targets. Furthermore, the SBTi confirmed Flutter’s net-zero science-based aim for 2035.

Net-Zero Target and the Paris Agreement

Flutter’s net-zero ambition is consistent with the SBTi Corporate Net Zero Standard and follows a 1.5°C trajectory, in line with the Paris Agreement’s objectives. SBTi’s approved Scope 1, 2, and 3 targets are listed below:

Overall Net-Zero Goal: Flutter aspires to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (“GHG”) emissions across the value chain by 2035. This includes the following breakdown.

Flutter aims to cut absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 45% by 2030, starting with a base year of 2022. Additionally, Flutter intends to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions by 45% within the same timeframe.

Long-Term Goals: Flutter pledges to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% by 2035, starting from a 2022 baseline. Similarly, Flutter aims to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions by 90% within the same timeframe.

Flutter agrees to publish regular updates on their progress toward these goals, as well as their strategy for managing climate-related risks and opportunities.
