CS2 Superteam Suffers Major Setbacks while Players Are Loving the Challenge

Struggles of Team Falcons in Counter-Strike 2

Not every esports superteam is successful, particularly in Counter-Strike 2. Recently, one squad has been fumbling a lot, and CS2 players are having a blast.

By the end of 2023, Team Falcons had created a CS2 superteam that included the ENCE core of Snappi, Maden, and SunPayus, as well as Magisk, BOROS, and coach Zonic. After falling short at the start of 2024, the squad had to make some roster changes, and things are not looking much better, with the Falcons winning only two of their past ten series.

These two victories were 2-1 over Asian TYLOO in the ESL Pro League Season 19, and 13-8 over 3DMAX in the PGL Copenhagen CS2 Major RMR. Meanwhile, Falcons lost against TheMongolz, BetBoom, G2 Esports, and even Metizport during the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown, where s1mple served as a stand-in. On May 14, their recent performances were rehashed on Reddit, with CS2 players celebrating the Falcons’ defeat.

“Yes, and I am loving it. Eagerly for them to fall below 10% win rate soon” one gamer remarked. “They literally have not won a single game against a notable opponent,” another said.

The Controversy Behind Falcons

It is said that the Falcons are hated because they are owned by Saudis. Many in the industry believe the owners put a significant amount of money in the CS2 squad, which is why players joined in the first place—for the money. “Always love seeing Saudi esports getting washed and taking an L,” one poster commented.

Some fans even referred to the Falcons as a “retirement home,” citing the team’s inability to achieve anything while veterans can make a lot of money in the organization. The squad presently consists of seasoned players such as Snappi, Magisk, and dupree.

An expensive investment with little return.

The Falcons appear to be a significant investment that has yet to pay off, and the organization’s players are well aware of this. In February, Magisk said that the CS2 format made it risky for enterprises to enter the market. Fortunately for the Falcons and many other space rivals, several tournament organizers, such as StarLadder, plan to return to the scene in 2025.
