Following unfavorable feedback, Helldivers 2 has introduced a rebalancing patch.
The highly anticipated game Helldivers 2 is currently receiving criticism from gamers, prompting the release of a new patch to address the issues stated. Not all changes made in reaction to a recent major balancing update were favorably welcomed, particularly those made to the popular weapon R-36 Eruptor.
The R-36 Eruptor was notable for its explosive rounds and the large amount of shrapnel it created, which was lethal to adjacent adversaries. However, this dynamic had unexpected implications, as players would frequently find themselves trapped in the blast radius and murdered. In response to player feedback and to solve the disruption created by excessive usage of the Eruptor, game developers Arrowhead opted to remove the shrapnel function entirely and enhance the weapon’s damage. However, this choice has sparked debate among gamers, with some claiming that it has destroyed the weapon’s efficacy.
The changes to the R-36 Eruptor have caused numerous conversations on the Helldivers subreddit, with players expressing their dissatisfaction and accusing others for pressuring the developers to make the modifications. Many argue that the increased damage does not compensate for the removal of the shrapnel feature, making the weapon less effective than previously.
However, in a Reddit thread, a player shared conversations exchanged with Twinbeard, an Arrowhead developer, who indicated that the alterations made to the R-36 Eruptor did not work as intended. This discovery has given many fans optimism that the devs may either undo the adjustments or take a different approach to reimagining the weapon, allowing it to keep its strength without being disruptive.
Helldivers 2’s most recent patch contained a variety of buffs, nerfs, and modifications to improve the game’s general balance after a big upgrade. Fans can find the full patch notes here.
