Most countries still unable to access Helldivers 2 despite Sony’s backtrack

The cataclysm faced by Helldivers 2 due to Sony’s PSN sign-up mandate has resulted in the game being delisted in over 150 countries and territories that do not support the PlayStation Network. Despite Sony backtracking on their decision, the game remains unavailable in these regions.

No Purchase Options in Non-PSN Countries and Territories

As it stands, Helldivers 2 cannot be purchased in countries and territories that do not support Sony’s PlayStation Network. The exact reasons for its removal from regional stores remain unclear, although Valve may have played a part in the delisting until the situation was resolved. Despite Sony’s announcement that PSN sign-ups would not be mandatory for Helldivers 2 players, citizens of over 150 countries are still unable to purchase the game and experience its greatness.

SteamDB reports that Helldivers 2 is currently not available for purchase in 174 countries and territories. This includes some overseas territories of the UK, Norway, and France, as well as several European countries. Certain European Union member-states that were previously outside of the PSN’s range now find themselves excluded from the delisting. There has been no official news or statements regarding this change or when it will be reversed by Arrowhead, Valve, or Sony.

Good News for Existing Players

For those in the affected territories and countries who have already purchased Helldivers 2 prior to the controversy and delisting, there is some good news. You can still access and play the game in your region without any hindrance. However, newcomers from the majority of the globe will have to wait for a new decision to be made by the higher-ups and for the game to be reinstated in their regional storefronts.

Until then, patience is key. And always remember—any day is a good day to die for Democracy.
