GTA Online brings back a familiar character from GTA 4 in its upcoming update

GTA Online Winter Update: Yusuf Amir Returns in New Missions

As part of GTA Online’s winter update, players will be taking on missions from none other than Yusuf Amir from Grand Theft Auto 4—or rather, from that game’s DLC expansion, The Ballad of Gay Tony.

It’s been 14 years since that expansion, so long-time fans of Yusuf will be thrilled to see him make a comeback. According to a Nov. 30 blog post on Rockstar’s website, Yusuf has moved from Liberty City to Los Santos to continue his career as a real estate developer.

It doesn’t sound like he’s changed much, though, since he still “lusts after the finer things in life” and his missions involve completing action-packed robberies to steal luxury vehicles alongside Yusuf’s cousin Jamal.

To aid in these missions, players can utilize the new purchasable salvage yard called Red’s Auto Parts. Here, stolen vehicles can be sold to Yusuf, and players can salvage their own vehicles for parts. The choice and the cash is yours. Rockstar has not yet confirmed if comedian Omid Djalili will reprise his role as Yusuf or if a new voice actor will take on the character.

The winter update will also introduce new Drift Races, made possible by a drifting modification for select vehicles. Additionally, there will be other improvements and additions, such as wildlife roaming the streets of Los Santos, similar to Grand Theft Auto 5. Rockstar promises even more updates beyond the winter update, including new music and gameplay modes, updates to the creator tools, and other festive surprises.

One lingering question on GTA Online players’ minds is what will happen to the game once Grand Theft Auto 6 is released. Will GTA Online continue alongside GTA 6, or will Rockstar introduce a GTA Online 2 for players to migrate to? While a GTA 6 trailer is set to drop in less than a week, any future plans for GTA Online may not be discussed for quite some time.
