GTA 6 Sets Record as Most Liked Gaming Tweet Ever

Grand Theft Auto 6’s Trailer Tweet Becomes Most-Liked Gaming Post Ever on Twitter

Rockstar Games recently tweeted the release date for Grand Theft Auto 6’s first trailer, and it has already become the most-liked gaming-related post on Twitter (source: VGC). The tweet, posted on December 1, has earned approximately 1.9 million likes. This comes as no surprise considering the high anticipation for GTA 6 and the fans’ year-long demand for a trailer.

Record-Breaking Popularity on Twitter and Instagram

Rockstar’s previous record-holder was another GTA 6-related tweet that announced the airing of the trailer in early December. That tweet currently sits at 1.6 million likes. However, the trailer date announcement has gained even more popularity on Rockstar’s Instagram account, with over 5.5 million likes. It’s safe to say that the actual trailer is likely to break records on YouTube as well.

The Enduring Popularity of the GTA Series

The immense popularity of the GTA series, particularly GTA 6, is evident even without any official information being shared about the game. Last year’s hacking incident leaked some details, but these GTA 6 tweets would have received just as many likes regardless.

Imitation is Flattery, but Originality Reigns

Other publishers recognized the popularity of a post about GTA 6’s trailer and attempted to copy its minimalist approach and color gradient. However, none of these imitation posts come close to the original’s popularity.

Fan Expectations and Leaks

After roughly a decade of waiting since the release of GTA 5 in 2013, fan expectations for the GTA 6 trailer are sky-high. An alleged TikTok leak, supposedly from the son of a Rockstar employee, may have given away a closer look at the game, but it only shows seven seconds of the setting without any gameplay or story content. Fans are eager to see if the trailer lives up to their expectations.
