Fortnite Developer Confirms More Mythic Items Coming Soon
Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, recently revealed in a Reddit post that they have plans to introduce more Mythic items in the future. This announcement comes after the addition of the Infinity Blade to the game.
The purpose of Mythic items is to provide a gameplay experience that goes beyond the functionality of Legendary items. Epic Games stated that these items will continue to be a part of the game, as they add new and exciting ways for players to interact with the map and shake up the normal gameplay.
Player Opinions: Push for Limited Time Modes
Players who responded to the Reddit post expressed their desire for changes. Many of them believe that the Infinity Blade and upcoming Mythic items should not be included in standard and competitive game modes such as solos, duos, squads, and Pop-up Cups. Instead, they suggest that Epic Games should move these items to Limited Time Modes.
This request is not unprecedented. In the past, Epic Games collaborated with Marvel to introduce the Infinity Gauntlet from Thanos as a special Limited Time Mode. Although the sword is not as powerful as the glove, it is still an extremely strong item.
Concerns Over Balance and Competition
Players are concerned about the addition of more Mythic items because they struggle to counter the current one, the Infinity Blade. This imbalance has made the game less enjoyable for many players. The competitive power of the Infinity Blade was evident during the Fortnite Winter Royale tournament, where five out of the top seven players utilized the blade.
Epic Games’ Response and Future Plans
Epic Games mentioned that they will provide information regarding their competitive philosophy when it comes to new items. has reached out to the company for a comment on the role of the Infinity Blade in Winter Royale, but they have not received a response at this time.
As long as the Infinity Blade remains in the game, players will continue to request its removal from standard game modes. However, if Epic Games follows through with their plans, the influx of Mythic items will be unstoppable.
