The Infinity Blade in Fortnite: Battle Royale to Receive Balance Changes in Upcoming Update
The Mythic sword Infinity Blade will be less powerful in Fortnite: Battle Royale when the 7.10 update arrives next week, according to developer Epic Games.
Changes to the blade include the inability for players to harvest materials or build structures. Currently, players are able to instantly gather materials and build structures with ease.
Epic Games’ Community Manager stated that by disabling harvesting and building capabilities, the Infinity Blade will still feel satisfying to use, but will also come with a level of risk.
Epic Games also mentioned the possibility of further adjustments to the Infinity Blade in future updates. However, the weapon’s high damage, instant building destruction, health and shield regeneration, movement speed bonus, low cooldown skills will remain the same.
Although the adjustments may only slightly impact the balance of the blade, players wielding the Infinity Blade will now have the ability to build structures to protect themselves and find better positions, compensating for their lack of long-range combat abilities.
After the 7.10 update, players who encounter opponents wielding the Infinity Blade will have an easier time taking them down, but will still need to deplete the wielder’s 200 health and shield.
Despite the controversy surrounding the Infinity Blade’s power, Epic Games intends to introduce more Mythic items like it in the future. Completely removing the Infinity Blade from Fortnite or limiting it to a specific game mode is not currently under consideration.
