Fortnite potentially introducing a respawn feature resembling Apex Legends

If you were confused by the funky vans in Fortnite, here’s what they’re for

If you’ve been playing Fortnite recently and noticed some strange vans scattered around the map, you’re not alone. It turns out these vans will be used to allow players to respawn after they die. A data miner named ForTory on Twitter has discovered through sound files that these vans will serve a similar purpose as the respawn beacons in Apex Legends.

Respawn mechanic coming to Fortnite

After a player dies, they will drop a card that their teammates can recover. Then, by making their way to a van, a teammate can submit the fallen ally’s card and have that ally respawn at the van’s location. This mechanic closely resembles how respawning works in Apex Legends, which players have enjoyed. It only makes sense for Fortnite to have a similar feature.

During a recent Reddit AMA discussing season eight, Fortnite producer RZElive hinted at the possibility of a respawn mechanic coming to the game. RZElive mentioned that the team has been considering it for a while, and players should stay tuned for further updates during season eight.

Possible surprise addition in season eight

Since season eight has just begun, it’s unlikely that respawn vans will become active immediately. However, Epic Games has a history of surprising players with new in-game content, so it’s possible that they could introduce this new mechanic sooner than expected.
