Square Enix aims to revamp game development strategy following disappointing profits of Final Fantasy 16

Japanese gaming company Square Enix plans to make major changes to its game development process in response to a decline in profits. The company’s president, Takashi Kiryu, announced that they will conduct a comprehensive review of their development system to enhance the quality of their games. Kiryu also mentioned that Square Enix will decrease outsourced development and prioritize in-house development in order to improve both quality and profit margins. The new structure and approach are expected to be implemented in April, and more information will be revealed in Spring 2024.
