Major Updates Planned for Diablo 4’s PTR Return in the Upcoming Season

Diablo 4’s Public Test Realm (PTR) to Make Triumphant Return in Season 5

Diablo 4 fans have another reason to celebrate, with the highly popular Public Test Realm (PTR) now set to make a glorious return in season five.

Blizzard’s community manager recently shared a post on the official forums where he provided several key updates—including the PTR’s return; particularly good news because Diablo 4 players had basically accepted the concept had been shelved. Instead, it will return in season five, with more details to be revealed during a webcast on June 21.

In a departure from their typical schedule, Blizzard will hold a separate live stream on June 21 to discuss the forthcoming Season Five PTR in their Campfire Chat. The decision to split the mid-season update from the PTR release is intended to create a smoother transition for players, eliminating disturbance as they switch from the PTR to the live game.

Diablo 4 players have reacted positively to the reintroduction of the PTR, with many embracing the ability to test new features and provide feedback before the official release. The widespread positive reception to Season Four’s improvements, particularly Loot Reborn, has raised anticipation for Season Five.

Exciting updates await in the next Diablo 4 PTR!

Beyond its return, we don’t know a whole lot about what this next version of the Diablo 4 PTR will look like, but Blizzard has promised it will get some “major updates.”

Before we get there, the next big update, Patch 14.3, will be released midway during Season Four, bringing significant class balance improvements and other changes. The patch notes for this mid-season update will be issued on June 14, with the patch itself available the following week.

Introducing the Vessel of Hatred Expansion

The Blizzard developers are also planning to reveal more about the Vessel of Hatred expansion during another livestream on July 18. This broadcast will have the Diablo 4 crew delving further into the new Spiritborn class in particular.
