VALORANT World Champion Boostio Stands by Benched Former Teammate Amid Controversy

NRG’s VALORANT team shakes things up with the benching of Demon1

NRG made big changes to its VALORANT team, but 100 Thieves’ Boostio isn’t sold on benching his former Evil Geniuses teammate and Champions 2023 MVP Demon1.

Discussion about NRG’s roster swaps

The VALORANT world has been discussing the move since VALORANT News mentioned Boostio briefly talked about NRG’s roster swaps on-stream back on June 9. During the video in question, 100T’s IGL stated in his Twitch streaming chat that he would not have benched Demon1 on the new NRG lineup, which includes Victor, crashies, Ethan, and the return of FNS and s0m. Instead, Victor would have been Boostio’s first choice to bench.

Boostio’s Perspective on the Move

While Boostio recognized that Demon1’s benching made sense given his previous performance at Kickoff and Split One, he said it was not a good long-term decision for NRG. “They just don’t have enough firepower,” the VALORANT star explained. “Their firepower is really feeble. “All of NRG has a negative aura.”

Demon1 was the rising star on everyone’s radar when he won Champions 2023 with Boostio and their former EG teammates. This season, however, the MVP has struggled with his current NRG team. Despite this, Boostio remains confident in Demon1’s abilities, comparing him to top-tier duelists such as Leviatán’s aspas and 100T’s Cryocell.

What lies ahead for NRG?

“They do not have the aspas, Demon1, or Cryo,” Boostio added. “You need someone who is determined to win a title.”

Before we can think about the next large international event, we will need to see how the new NRG team performs in Split Two, which begins on June 22 for Americas. That day, we are in for an exciting encounter between NRG and Sentinels. It will be the first time we see FNS and S0m return for NRG, with Demon1 on the bench. Depending on how this split goes, they may be able to qualify for Champions in Seoul in August, but that does not guarantee they will be able to win the entire event without their star duelist. Boostio is still doubtful of NRG’s talents, and it is up to the current roster to prove him wrong.

“If you want to win a title, I believe Demon1 must be on the roster. It is a troll that they don’t,” the IGL remarked, shaking his head. “They may win championships, but they will never be among these elite teams. “There is absolutely no way.”
