Witch Doctor, Sand King, and Invoker receive significant nerfs in Dota 2 Patch 7.34b

Valve Fixes Overpowered Heroes in Dota 2 Patch 7.34b

Valve has taken action to address major changes in Dota 2 following the release of the 7.34b patch on August 14th.

Heroes like Witch Doctor and Sand King, who had become dominant in the meta, have been targeted for adjustments after receiving significant buffs in Patch 7.34. According to Dotabuff, Witch Doctor and Sand King were approaching a 60 percent win rate.

The changes to Witch Doctor include a reduction in the attack range of his Death Ward and a nearly doubled cooldown in the early game. These changes are meant to bring him back in line with other heroes.

As for Sand King, nearly his entire kit has been nerfed. This includes a reduction in Burrowstrike’s damage, as well as a removal of Sandstorm’s ability to move with the hero. These changes were necessary as Sand King’s win rate was already at 52 percent before the patch and was rapidly growing in popularity.

In addition to these adjustments, Valve has partially reverted some of the changes made to Invoker. Cooldown reduction on Wex has been removed and late-game values for Ghost Walk have been halved. These changes were necessary to balance Invoker’s Quas-Wex build, which had received heavy buffs and was becoming very popular.

Other heroes have also received minor buffs in the 7.34b patch. For example, Abaddon’s Mist Coil now has increased heal/damage and range. Omniknight’s Repel ability has a shorter cooldown, and Marci gets a bonus hit for each Fury stack via her ultimate Unleash.

Overall, this patch aims to bring greater balance to Dota 2 and ensure a fair and competitive gameplay experience for all players.
