Prominent South American Dota 2 Player Temporarily Steps Away During DPC Season

Beastcoast Player Takes Break for Mental Health

Beastcoast announced that their player, Héctor “K1” Rodríguez, will be taking a temporary break from competitive gaming to prioritize his mental well-being. Beastcoast fully supports K1’s decision and will have David “Parker” Flores as their substitute for their remaining Dota Pro Circuit matches.

The announcement came after Beastcoast suffered an unexpected loss against the newcomers, Mad Kings, in the South American DPC. This defeat dampened Beastcoast’s hopes of securing first place in the DPC, as their rivals, Evil Geniuses, maintain a flawless 8-0 record.

Beastcoast still has matches against EG and Thunder Awaken ahead. These three teams have been battling fiercely for the two major slots available for the SA region. With K1 out for the rest of the season, Beastcoast faces the possibility of missing the Bali Major.

With only three matches left in the regular season, Beastcoast must defeat TA and Balrogs to secure a spot in the Bali Major without relying on TA’s results.

Beastcoast recently competed at the Berlin Major but fell short of earning enough prize pool points, finishing 13th in the event. Meanwhile, EG ended the tournament with a top-four finish, establishing themselves as the leading team in SA for the upcoming summer season.

As of now, Beastcoast has 700 DPC points, but they will need more to qualify for The International 2023.
