Professional Dota 2 player accused of match-fixing and involvement in betting scandal expelled from team

Under-fire Dota 2 Pro Player Taiga Dropped from Leviatán

Tommy “Taiga” Le, a professional Dota 2 player, has been dropped from the South American squad Leviatán. This comes as the fallout from match-fixing allegations continues to impact Taiga’s career.

Leviatán announced the departure of Taiga on April 16. The organization, in a statement on Facebook, claimed that the parting was mutual. However, they made it clear that the allegations had taken a toll on Taiga’s reputation. The translated post emphasized Leviatán’s commitment to integrity and its rejection of unsportsmanlike behaviors. Reports suggest that Indonesian player Kenny “Xepher” Deo will replace Taiga in this week’s EPL World Series: America match, according to Leviatán’s lineup on Liquipedia.

Taiga’s Career Ups and Downs

Taiga’s decision to come out of retirement and join Leviatán marked a brief comeback for the player. He joined the Argentinian organization in March, aiming to make an impact in the esports scene. However, the team struggled to perform, finishing fourth in the South American closed qualifier for PGL Wallachia before Taiga’s departure.

This is not the first time Taiga has left the Dota 2 scene. Previously, he faced heavy allegations of match-fixing during his time on OG in 2022 and 2023. The accusations also included claims of leaking insider knowledge and scrim information under the threat of blackmail from a group known as the “322 Mafia.”

OG initially took a neutral stance on Taiga’s actions, waiting for substantial evidence before making a decision. However, after an independent investigation, the organization condemned Taiga’s behavior. Following his exit from OG, Taiga joined Bleed Esports but had poor results, leading to his retirement announcement from Dota 2. He then turned to streaming on Kick before ultimately returning to competitive play with Leviatán.

Future Uncertainty

It remains uncertain whether Taiga will join another Dota 2 team in the future. At present, he has returned to streaming on Kick. Neither Valve nor any official organizer has publicly addressed the allegations against Taiga.
