First Dota 2 Minor of 2018-19 Season Revealed: Corsair DreamLeague

Dota 2 Pro League’s First Minor Event Announced

The first Minor event of the Dota 2 Pro League has been revealed as the Corsair DreamLeague season 10 tournament. This tournament is a partnership between DreamHack, Corsair, H4X, and Monster Energy.

The DPC event was confirmed yesterday, and it will feature eight teams competing for the majority of the $300,000 prize pool. The winner of the tournament will also secure a slot in the Kuala Lumpur Major, which is the first Major event of the 2018-19 season. The Corsair DreamLeague tournament is scheduled to take place from October 29 to November 4. Global qualifiers will be held in various regions, including China, Southeast Asia, Europe, North America, South America, and Russia/CIS.

Qualifiers and Tournament Structure

Qualifiers for the Corsair DreamLeague tournament are scheduled from September 23 to 26 for all regions. The tournament website provides a full schedule for each region. The qualifiers will begin with two days of open qualifiers, where the winners will advance to a four-team, double-elimination closed bracket. Each closed qualifier will award one slot for CIS, Southeast Asia, South America, and China. Europe and North America will receive two slots each in the Stockholm finals.

Prize Pool and Kuala Lumpur Major

The main event of the Corsair DreamLeague tournament will offer a first-place prize of $125,000, while the second-place team will receive $70,000. The prize money will decrease for the lower-ranking teams.

The Dota 2 Kuala Lumpur Major tournament is scheduled to begin on November 9th. It is the first major event of the 2018-19 season, and regional qualifiers are already underway.

Points System Update

In early September, Valve made an update to the DPC points system for the new season. Notably, points are now attached to teams rather than individual players. This means that points will not transfer if players switch teams, as they have in the past.
