Fortnite’s Close Encounters mode makes a comeback after a long hiatus

Epic Games Re-Enables Close Encounters LTM in Fortnite

The Close Encounters limited time mode, centered around shotguns and jetpacks, is now available again in Fortnite, announced Epic Games today.

In this mode, players can fly, fight, and get up close and personal. Jetpacks and Heavy Shotguns can be found in chests and supply drops, while other shotguns are available as floor loot.

Matches usually last around 15 minutes due to the faster movement of the storm in the mid-to-late stages of the game.

Close Encounters was initially enabled in May but disabled shortly after due to various issues, such as incorrect ammo types spawning on the map. After almost four months, Epic has fixed the problems and brought back the mode.

Players quickly discovered that building sky bases and camping high above the map were effective strategies in this mode, as they could fly with jetpacks and make it challenging to shoot down ramps. With only shotguns available, it becomes difficult to engage in long-range combat.

The duration of the Close Encounters LTM is uncertain, so players should take advantage and play while they can.
