Virtus Pro and Astralis to Compete for the ELEAGUE Major Championship

The ELEAGUE Major Finalists are Set

The highly anticipated final showdown of the ELEAGUE Major has been determined.

After a series of thrilling matches, the second day of the ELEAGUE Major playoffs concluded with Astralis and Virtus Pro advancing to the tournament’s grand finals.

Astralis Triumphs Over Fnatic

Astralis emerged as the first team to secure their spot in the grand finals after defeating Swedish rivals Fnatic in two maps. Although the closing match on Nuke heavily favored the Danish side, Fnatic had a promising start on the first map, Cache.

With the outstanding performances of Freddy “krimz” Johansson, Fnatic applied immense pressure on the Danish roster. They even forced overtime on the first map with an incredible ninja defuse by Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer. However, Astralis composed themselves during the overtime and ultimately secured the victory.

Virtus Pro Prevails Against SK Gaming

Meanwhile, the second semifinal match between tournament favorites Virtus Pro and reigning champions SK Gaming proved to be a different challenge. Despite Virtus Pro’s strong start on their preferred map, Train, SK Gaming, led by stand-in player Ricardo “fox” Pancheo, launched an impressive comeback that carried on throughout the match. Fox played a vital role, earning 26 kills and pushing the game to overtime. Eventually, Virtus Pro secured the win, claiming the lead in the series.

Cobblestone Seals the Fate

The deciding map of the series was Cobblestone, a map both teams have dominated in the past. SK Gaming got off to a better start compared to Train, but Virtus Pro managed to stay in the game with just six rounds and eventually overtook the Brazilians.

The grand finals of the ELEAGUE Major will commence today at 10:00am ET.
