Semmler set to skip DreamHack Masters Malmö

Counter-Strike Commentator Semmler to be Absent from DreamHack Malmö

A prominent voice in the world of Counter-Strike will not be part of the talent lineup for DreamHack’s upcoming event in Malmö, Sweden, scheduled for Aug. 30 to Sept. 3.

Auguste “Semmler” Massonnat, known for his role as a commentator, will be replaced by Jason “Moses” O’Toole, a familiar face in the esports community, who has previously worked as an analyst and commentator for ESL, DreamHack, and ELEAGUE. Moses will join forces with Anders Blume, Semmler’s regular casting partner.

It is not the first time Semmler has missed an event this year.

For the ESL Pro League Season 5 Finals, IEM Katowice, and IEM Sydney, the Anders-Semmler duo was absent. However, a different dynamic could be observed during the ECS Season 3 Finals in June, as Anders casted the London event alongside Henry “HenryG” Greer instead of Semmler.

This news from DreamHack comes after speculation about the future of the popular casting duo. In an interview with Unikrn back in July, Semmler acknowledged that their relationship has been rocky this year, and their chemistry has experienced ups and downs over the past few years. Semmler has not publicly disclosed the reason for his absence from DreamHack Masters Malmö.

On the bright side, Semmler taking a break from the competitive world of CS:GO can be seen as a positive development.
