G2 reveals new lineup with shox, Ex6TenZ, and SmithZz; NBK and apEX left out

G2 Esports Introduces New CS:GO Roster in French Shuffle

G2 Esports recently unveiled its revamped CS:GO roster, sparking yet another French shuffle in the esports scene. The former star player Richard “shox” Papillon has returned to the active roster, joining forces with Edouard “SmithZz” Dubourdeaux and Kevin “Ex6TenZ” Droolans, who are making their comeback as players for G2 Esports. As a result of these changes, Nathan “NBK” Schmitt and Dan “apEX” Madesclaire have been moved to the bench, while Oscar “mixwell” Canellas is still exploring other team options.

Retaining Legend Status and New Leadership

KennyS and Alexandre “bodyy” Pianaro are the only remaining players from G2’s previous French roster. Shox’s return to the active roster after recovering from wrist surgery ensures that G2 Esports will maintain its Legend status at the upcoming Valve Major in London this September. During Shox’s two-month absence, the trial roster with mixwell and NBK as in-game leader fell apart.

Potential Departure and New Roles

Rumors suggest that NBK may join Cloud9, potentially replacing Pujan “FNS” Mehta on the Major-winning roster. Furthermore, Ex6TenZ is set to take over NBK’s role as the team’s in-game leader, but it is worth noting that negotiations with his former team, LDLC, are still ongoing. Meanwhile, the team composition will remain mostly the same, with kennyS as the main AWP, Ex6TenZ as the IGL, shox as a rifler, and bodyy and SmithZz as the supports. SmithZz last played competitively at the ELEAGUE Atlanta Major in January 2017.

First Test at ECS Season Five Finals

G2 Esports’ newly formed lineup will make its debut this weekend at the ECS Season Five Finals, which will be held from June 8 to 10.
